John GRIMES the 9th son of Solomon and Anna Grimes was born in Putnam County Oct 1, 1847 departed this life Dec 4, 1926 at age 79 Years 2 Months 3 Days. His entire life was spent in Russell Twp. He wa sunite din marriage to Amanda E. Clodfelter Oct 6, 1869 who passed to the Great Beyond March 30, 1925. To this union were born 8 children: Mrs. Della mcGaughey, Mrs. Larua Guilliams, Mrs. Eva Harbisen, Cleve, Eugene, Myrtle and Claude. The oldest son, Pearl preceded him to the Great Beyond 8 years ago. 17 grandchildren and two great granddchildren. He united with the Christian Church at Hebron in August 1897 and remained an earnest, consistent and devoted life. "Uncle John" as he was familiarly called was of a jovial disposition. He had a jolly word for everyone. One of his efforts of life was to make a happy and cheerful home where his friends and realtives were always welcome. He will be sadly missed by his children especially by Myrtle who was always so devoted to her parents and especially her father since he had been left so lonesome. His last illness was of short duration and though his suffering was intense, he bore it with patientce. He is the last of a family of 10 children. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church, Monday afternoon at 1 conducted by Pastor Rev. H ?
